Years ago, Amy and I began the journey of designing the log home of our dreams. After attending classes, reading more books and magazines than we’d care to count, and looking at thousands of floor plans and photos, we found ourselves overwhelmed by information. There are dozens of websites and books describing the process of building a log home, but time and time again the information proved to be confusing or disorganized. Rather than getting frustrated and discouraged that our dream would never come true, we decided to make a plan. In early 2013 we began the process of surveying and talking with log home builders and buyers to find out what we could do to improve the process of building or buying a log home. We kept hearing the same statements from potential log home buyers: “we don’t know where to start”, “we don’t know who we need to hire”, and “we’re frustrated with the process”. The builders were telling us that they needed help with marketing, recruiting, and communicating with their customer base. Amy and I are passionate about log homes, and we’ve been hard at work designing, developing, and testing a better way to connect log home buyers with builders in the industry. Our goal for the Log Cabin Bureau is to increase the ease of doing business and advance the communication levels between manufacturers, builders, and the customers.
We are a husband/wife duo that is passionate about log homes. James Northard, MBA, fancies himself as a “student” of the industry who loves reading about how other couples have brought their dream of owning a log home to life. Amy Northard, CPA has a high level of attention to detail and loves reading and reviewing photos of interior design styles in log homes.
